Meet Murphy

I've been distracted for months; lots of stuff going on and not feeling sufficiently focused on anything. I'm finally feeling my feet under me. I realized last year that there was a dog-sized hole in my life. I missed Lucy so much, and after 3 years it was time to fill the hole. I found Murphy on a Mexican rescue website. One look, and I knew she was my dog.

It took months to organize her arrival in Canada. An outbreak in the rescue facility resulted in a lock-down; finding someone to fly her to Canada was difficult; timing was problematic. Finally, it all came together. Mid-September, I met Murphy and brought her home.

She was very underweight, suffering from an ear infection, a skin infection, and a tick-borne illness. Our wonderful vets helped her get well. She was quickly housetrained, learned to climb stairs, ride in a car, and play with toys. She gained 5 lbs. Her coat became thicker. She's now 18 months old, and a wonderful addition to our lives.

Our family is waiting for another addition; twin granddaughters are due soon. My son's family will grow to four daughters! We're excited and anxious and trying to imagine the effect on our lives. How fortunate I am to be part of a growing family. We enjoyed a vacation with our grandsons this summer, and two of the grands start kindergarten this fall. Time flies.

I am busy in my studio; weaving, sewing, and playing with new ideas. My friend and neighbour has been encouraging me to continue with my creative practice, and we have had fun working on things together. We have added several raised beds between our homes to grow vegetables, with plans to add more.

I have much to be grateful for, and have a full and happy life. Sometimes, I lose my way. I always find my way home.
